Bringing Hope: A Disaster Relief Journey

Excerpt from Chapter Two - Terror and Loss - September 11, 2001

This chapter recaptures the events that happened during the morning of September 11.

"On the morning of September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda terrorists, an Islamic extremist group, hijacked four United States airplanes and carried out coordinated suicide attacks killing everyone on board, along with many people in buildings and on the ground. Along with the almost 3,000 people killed in the World Trade Center buildings in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and in Pennsylvania at the plane crash site, hundreds of firefighters, dozens of police officers, and paramedics were also killed. The two 110-story buildings of the World Trade Center were completely destroyed, along with a portion of the Pentagon. And, a peaceful field in Pennsylvania would be forever scarred."
